Daily Fantasy Hockey 2015: NHL DraftKings Picks for March 20

Steve SilvermanMar 20, 2015

As the days and games dwindle down in the regular season, Friday night's card is not the biggest or most imposing.

However, sharp fantasy players on DraftKings have an opportunity to put together an imposing lineup even though just three games are scheduled. One of those games is between the Red Wings and the Lightning, two teams with a legitimate chance to go a long way in this year's playoffs. Another game involves the desperate Avalanche and high-flying Ducks, who are coming off a thrilling overtime win over the Kings Wednesday night.

We will keep our lineup within the $50,000 salary cap, and the lineup below should leave you smiling by the time the night is over.

Centers: Steven Stamkos, Tampa Bay Lightning  ($9,000) and Ryan Kesler, Anaheim Ducks ($7,000)

Steven Stamkos may come at a premium price, but you don't want to miss an opportunity to put him in the lineup when he is feeling it. Stamkos is coming off a brilliant two-goal, one-assist game against the Montreal Canadiens, and he should be able to feast on the Red Wings. Stamkos has seven goals and three assists in his last 10 games, and he has fired home 39 goals and added 26 assists this season. The Red Wings will not be able to stop him.

Ryan Kesler should be in a position to continue his recent hot streak as the Ducks host the Colorado Avalanache. Kesler has scored three goals and five assists in his last 10 games, including a goal Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Kings. Kesler has scored 18 goals and 27 assists this season, and he has been solid when the Ducks have the man advantage, with 10 power-play points.

Wingers: Jakob Silfverberg, Anaheim Ducks ($4,700), Justin Abdelkader, Detroit Red Wings ($4,800) and Alex Killorn, Tampa Bay Lightning ($3,800)

Jakob Silfverberg has turned into one of the Ducks' best defensive forwards, but that does not mean he has forgotten about his offensive game. He has scored three goals and six assists in his last 10 games, and Anaheim head coach Bruce Boudreau is looking for Silfverberg to continue that hot streak against the Avs.

Justin Abdelkader has scored 19 goals and 18 assists this season, and seven of his goals have come on the power play. He has been finding the range recently for the Red Wings with six goals and one assist in his last 10 games, and Mike Babcock will be looking for him to get on the board against Tampa Bay.

Alex Killorn is somewhat of an afterthought in the minds of most fantasy players, but he's really quite a bargain with a $3,800 price tag. Killorn is a hard-working hustler who has scored 14 goals and 22 assists this season. He has scored six points—two goals and four assists—in his last 10 games, and that makes him a viable threat against the Red Wings.

Defensemen: Victor Hedman, Tampa Bay Lightning ($6,500) and Danny DeKeyser, Detroit Red Wings ($2,900)

Victor Hedman is clearly one of the best puck-moving defensemen in the Eastern Conference, and the Lightning depend on him for his heavy hitting, as well as his ability to make plays in the offensive zone. Hedman scored a brilliant goal and an assist in the 4-2 Lightning victory over the Montreal Canadiens Monday night. His confidence is peaking with three goals and five assists in his last 10 games, and he should be a threat against the Detroit Red Wings.

Danny DeKeyser has not had a stellar scoring year, but he has excellent speed and can lug the puck up the ice with confidence. He has scored two goals and 23 assists this season, and has four assists in his last 10 games. His $2,900 tag is agreeable to all, and he should get some time on the power play, where he has garnered four assists so far.

Goalie: Ben Bishop, Tampa Bay Lightning ($8,300)

Ben Bishop should come into this game against Detroit with full confidence after making 32 saves in Tampa Bay's 4-2 win over Montreal Monday night. Bishop has had an excellent year with a 34-11-4 record, a 2.32 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage. He is also 7-2-1 in his last 10 games.
