England will face Lithuania in a Euro 2016 qualifier at Wembley next Friday, followed by a friendly against Italy in Turin four days later. Roy Hodgson named his 24-man squad for the games on Thursday, and it looked a little something like this...

The good folks of Twitter, jaded by years of underwhelming Three Lions performances, wasted no time in analysing the selections. In an expanded squad of 24 (as opposed to 23), many were baffled to discover that Mr. Roy had decided to call up three left-backs—Luke Shaw, Kieran Gibbs and Leighton Baines—despite only having two goalkeepers...
