Halak Out, Poulin Recalled

Tuesday, March 17

The Islanders announced Kevin Poulin was called up to replace Halak on the roster for the time being:

It's unclear exactly when the injury occurred. Halak played the full game Friday night, a 2-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators. He won't play Tuesday night against the Chicago Blackhawks.

The good news for the Islanders is that they don't play again until Saturday. If it's just a minor ailment, as the day-to-day distinction would suggest, Halak could be back in time to face the New Jersey Devils this weekend.

That said, the Islanders are safely in a playoff position and will likely ensure Halak is at full strength before returning him to the lineup. More updates as they become available.
