Spencer Visits Seattle Seahawks
Monday, March 16
NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport reported Monday that Spencer took another visit to the Seattle Seahawks, per a source.
The Seahawks win on the back of their defense and strong running game, and adding another pass-rusher would make them even more formidable in the NFC. They finished first against the pass, third against the run, first in total defense and first in scoring defense in 2014. It almost seems unfair that they can potentially add a formerly dynamic player like Spencer.
Spencer only racked up 0.5 sacks last season, but he was bouncing back from an injury-plagued 2013 campaign, when he played in just one game. However, at his best, Spencer tallied 11 sacks during the 2012 season, six in 2011, five in 2010 and six in 2009.
Spencer is 31 years old, which means his best days are likely behind him, but if Seattle could even get 75 percent of that impressive production from 2009-12, he would be a worthwhile addition.
