Arkansas Razorbacks vs. Kentucky Wildcats Betting Preview, Game Stats

OddsShark.comMar 14, 2015

The top-ranked Kentucky Wildcats can head into the Big Dance unbeaten with a victory against the Arkansas Razorbacks in the championship game of the SEC tournament Sunday.

The top-seeded Wildcats advanced to the title game with a 91-67 rout of the 13th-seeded Auburn Tigers in the first tournament semifinal Saturday as 24-point favorites to land right on the number for a push.

The second-seeded Razorbacks later took care of the third-seeded Georgia Bulldogs with a 60-49 victory to easily cover the spread in the other semifinal as 2.5-point favorites and set up a rematch of their regular-season game against Kentucky from February 28.

The Wildcats beat Arkansas 84-67 in that last meeting and just covered as 15.5-point home favorites on the college basketball odds page as part of a nine-game closing stretch in which they have gone 7-1-1 against the spread.

Kentucky led by as many as 31 points in the second half that day and got 18 points apiece from Andrew Harrison and Trey Lyles to clinch the SEC regular-season title and snap a three-game series losing streak against the Razorbacks both straight up and ATS.

Before that brief skid versus Arkansas, the Wildcats had won 11 of the previous 12 games between the teams, according to the OddsShark College Basketball Database, to go along with a 9-3 ATS mark.

The Razorbacks have been impressive in the SEC tournament so far, knocking out the Georgia Bulldogs and the Tennessee Volunteers in two wins by a combined 19 points and covering both games after they lost two of three to close out the regular season.

The low-scoring victory against the Bulldogs ended a string of five consecutive over results for Arkansas, as the team led 25-17 at halftime with the under on the 145.5-point total never really in doubt. Bettors might see a much different pace against Kentucky, especially since the over is 8-3-1 in the past 12 meetings between the teams.

The over is also 5-2 in the last seven games for the Wildcats overall and 10-4 in their previous 14. In their past 10 games, they are averaging nearly 78 points while giving up 59 per game.

The winner of the last 10 meetings between the Wildcats and the Razorbacks has averaged 80 points. However, the winner of the previous 10 SEC title games has scored more than 71 points only twice over the past decade.
