Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reported that the two-year deal was worth $5.3 million, with a $2 million bonus.
The 29-year-old veteran spent parts of the past five seasons with the AFC East rival Buffalo Bills. During his tenure in Western New York, Chandler developed into a reliable pass-catcher.
His time with the Bills came to an end Wednesday, though, as he was released by the team, according to the organization's official Twitter account:
Per Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com, Buffalo made the move in order to pursue Miami Dolphins tight end Charles Clay:
There is no doubt that Rob Gronkowski is the main man at tight end in New England, but Chandler can be a strong complementary option along with Tim Wright.
Also, according to Mark Daniels of The Providence Journal, Chandler has a history of good performances against the Pats:
Chandler's 28 catches for 384 yards and four touchdowns in nine games against New England are his best career totals against any NFL team.
Quarterback Tom Brady knows how to get the most out of his tight ends, which is likely why the Patriots were such a desirable fit for Chandler.
This isn't the type of signing that will secure back-to-back Super Bowl wins, but it is easy to envision Chandler contributing positively in 2015.
