Daniele De Rossi could be set for an indefinite period of time on Roma's sideline after having to be withdrawn from his team's Thursday evening encounter with Fiorentina.

Football Italia revealed the injury as a sprained ankle following the match.

As Bleacher Report's Matteo Bonetti pointed out, it was an unfortunate evening for Roma boss Rudi Garcia in terms of the casualties suffered:

It would be a dramatic loss for Roma to suffer at this stage of the campaign, with the Giallorossi looking to hound down Juventus' lead at the summit of Serie A.

However, no official word has been given as of yet, with De Rossi hoping to make it back in time for the second leg of Roma's Europa League tie against La Viola next Thursday (March 19), if unfit for Monday's tie with Sampdoria.
