Ribery Comments on Injury

Friday, April 3

Ribery previously talked to Goal.com about his injury:

"

At the start of the week it was bad and I could not do anything. Only on Wednesday was I able to ride a bike again. This injury came at a terrible time, I was just getting in form. Now I have had to stop for three weeks.

The problem was I started to train again after the Shakhtar match too soon; that was a mistake. There are many important matches coming and I hope I can help the team.

Bayern confirmed Ribery's initial lay-off in March:

After the Werder Bremen match, Karolos Grohmann of Reuters passed along comments from the French international, who didn't sound overly concerned.

"It does not seem to be too bad," Ribery said. "It is something with the ankle, and I hope I can be ready to play on the weekend."

In the end, Ribery's setback has proven far more serious than he anticipated, but he finally appears on the cusp of a comeback.

Ribery has five goals and seven assists in 15 Bundesliga appearances this term.
