WWE SmackDown: Spoiler-Free Preview for March 12

Ryan DilbertMar 12, 2015

The March 12 edition of WWE SmackDown will be a tag team spectacle.

AJ Lee and Paige team up once more, the tag champs align with a pair of bullfighters for the night and six men in the Intercontinental Championship hunt choose sides in a big battle in the main event. It's a show with a short list of matches but no shortage of talent.

Detroit's Joe Louis Arena plays host as WWE continues to build toward WrestleMania.

However, SmackDown won't feature any of the Superstars involved in the event's biggest matches. That means no Bray Wyatt, John Cena, Rusev or Triple H.

The show will instead focus on the IC title scene and perhaps answer how Cesaro and Tyson Kidd will figure into the WrestleMania puzzle.

WWE taped all the action on Tuesday night, but it won't air on Syfy until Thursday at 8 p.m. ET. The following is a spoiler-free look at all the clashes set for SmackDown.

Los Matadores, Cesaro and Tyson Kidd vs. The Usos vs. Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods

The tag champs don't have a WrestleMania match yet. Fans will be wondering if that changes after Thursday's SmackDown.

Cesaro and Kidd have been colliding with The Usos a lot lately, but Monday's Raw complicated the situation. Los Matadores and The New Day both pushed their way into the title picture. Fernando and Diego knocked off The Usos, while The New Day got the upset over Cesaro and Kidd.

For now, that leads to WWE cramming all four teams into a single bout. The big question, though, is whether this means that Cesaro and Kidd will find themselves defending the titles in a four-team fray?

Of course, that is assuming that The Ascension doesn't get thrown into the mix as well.

The Miz vs. Ryback

A pair of men who will be vying for victory in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal face off early one-on-one.

WWE hasn't given any indication of who is the favorite heading into that WrestleMania match. Whoever comes out on top here will begin to move into that category.

Ryback in control of The Miz.

The subplots that may bleed into this bout are Ryback's continued issues with The Authority and The Miz's growing tension with Damien Mizdow. Kane and Big Show have spent much of their energy looking to hurt The Big Guy. As for Mizdow, he is now officially part of the Battle Royal, something that clearly angered The Miz on Monday night.

Even with the possibility of those stories playing a role here, the only singles match of the night is not a thriller on paper.

AJ Lee and Paige vs. Cameron and Summer Rae

Prepping for their WrestleMania showdown with The Bella Twins, AJ Lee and Paige go up against two of the stars from Total Divas.

AJ defeated Summer on Monday night in a sloppy, subpar match. Hopefully, the action is a lot more satisfying this time around. However, adding Cameron to a bout is not the best recipe for excellence.

Will Nikki and Brie be prowling nearby? Will they ambush the two babyfaces?

WrestleMania is just weeks away, and this feud could use some added electricity.

Luke Harper, Stardust, Bad News Barrett vs. Dean Ambrose, Daniel Bryan and Dolph Ziggler

The Intercontinental Championship hunt again gets a spot on the marquee. It headlines SmackDown for the second week in a row.

Bad News Barrett will be surrounded by the challengers he'll face at WrestleMania. Will he be able to get along with the ones who are supposed to be on his side? The babyfaces may have issues working together too.

After all, each of these men have been clear about their hunger to be IC champ.

Barrett will be looking to end his streak of non-title losses. R-Truth is likely to be lurking, ready to steal the strap while these six men do battle. Fans will be watching to see if Bryan gets officially added to the Ladder match for the IC title as expected.

The stars involved in this clash make it a promising one. Capping off a night filled with strange allegiances, SmackDown presents a ladder-free preview of what to expect at WrestleMania.
