3 Choices. Iverson Needs to Pick The Right "Answer".
For Allen Iverson it is down to three choices. Miami, Charlotte or New York. Iverson has made it clear that he is interested in these three teams. These three teams have made it clear they are interested in Iverson. All three of these teams will probably offer him a contract soon. Iverson has to forget the money and think about what is at stake. He needs to pick the right team.
This past season the Pistons had a brutal season and the blame was unfairly put on Iverson. Some ignorant basketball fans started to say he was a cancer to a team and that he is not effective and is a washed up superstar. But fans said this without understanding the situation.
It was hard for Iverson once he found out he was in Detroit because of his contract and that he was never going to be able to play his way on this team just because the Pistons wanted to develop Rodney Stuckey. Iverson was not used by Michael Curry the way he should have been and had to settle for less minutes and less shots.
When that happens to Iverson it gets him off of his usual style of play and it affects the team. It happened all season. The coaches and players who did not like the fact the Iverson could not be Billups for the Pistons ended up giving one of the 25 Greatest basketball players ever a bad rap.
Iverson was shutdown for the season and has had a hard time finding a job all summer since he left Detroit. But there are some people out there that still understand how good Iverson still really can be. He averaged 26.4 ppg and 7.1 apg along with 2.2 spg and shot 46 percent with Denver in the 2007-08 season. So Iverson still has a lot left in the tank. Don't be fooled by what happened in Detroit. Just take a look at what NBA Analyst Rick Kamla had to say about Allen Iverson and his situation in Detroit.
“His status as a warrior is permanent. What I am saying is that he is a Hall-of-Fame player who is still in the prime of his career, and that coming off the bench to him is a stone-cold slap of the face and totally unacceptable. And I don’t even disagree with his opinion…I seriously doubt Curry’s rotation as pertains to Allen Iverson…With all due respect to Michael Curry who is a bright basketball mind, this is the worst rotation decision I have even seen in my life.” - Rich Kamla
So it is down to three choices for Iverson and he is going to have to land in the right situation. Say he goes somewhere and that team fails all the blame will be put on Iverson no matter what. It is just how the world works when it comes to Allen Iverson and something goes wrong all the haters jump on it and put blame on Iverson. He is one of the most hated athletes ever and it probably will not change.
But Iverson is also loved by many people that are ready to see Iverson prove the doubters wrong. He has to go to a place where he knows he will be used properly and where he can have a great comeback year by proving doubters wrong. Iverson can do great things for some teams out there and he can probably help the Bobcats get into the playoffs.
Iverson has said he is working out everyday and is ready to come back stronger and faster than ever. It is hard to believe this because he is 34 years old but with Allen Iverson his whole career he has been proving people wrong and shocking the world.
The thing with Iverson is if he lands in the right situation he will do great and have a great season but if he does not he will get blamed for failure. Iverson needs to make the right decison now or next season may just be the end to one of the greatest careers in the history of the NBA.
