The Book on Berto
For years, Andre Berto was touted as a future superstar in the sport. He did capture the WBC and IBF titles in his career, but it still seems like we haven't seen Berto performing at his best.
Injuries have taken their toll over the last two years. However, he finally looks healthy heading into this bout. Berto always seems confident, but with his surgically repaired shoulder in good condition, there's an extra pep in his step.
He rebounded from two-straight defeats with an easy 10-round decision win over Steve Upsher Chambers. The opposition won't be on the same level in this one. Lopez is bigger, smarter and a slightly harder puncher. Can Berto shine again?
The Book on Lopez

Lopez has scored a few notable wins, but none bigger than his TKO victory over Victor Ortiz.
The 30-year-old broke Ortiz's jaw and showed great resolve and heart as he outlasted his opponent. Those qualities would fail him in his next two fights. Chasing the dollar signs, Lopez took on Canelo Alvarez and Marcos Rene Maidana and was stopped in each fight.
In both fights, Lopez was out-gunned by bigger and stronger opponents. Against Berto, Lopez figures to be able to fight in a phone booth. In the past, Berto hasn't fought well when his opponent doesn't allow him to create distance.
Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero was able to take a decision victory over Berto by mugging him against the ropes. Look for Lopez to try a similar strategy.
Prediction
This is a tough fight to predict. While Berto appears healthy, you never know if the injuries have robbed him of any skill or reflexes. If Berto is 100 percent—and we'll assume he is—he should be able to out-box Lopez.
Under the tutelage of master strategist Virgil Hunter, Berto will be too fast, elusive and accurate with his punches. He should win a hard-fought unanimous decision.
