Jimmy Graham Traded to Seahawks for Max Unger: Twitter Reacts to Blockbuster
Folks who were worried that the start of free agency would be anti-climactic after so many deals leaked over the weekend were treated to a bombshell on Tuesday afternoon, as New Orleans Saints superstar Jimmy Graham was traded to the Seattle Seahawks, per the Seahawks.
Jay Glazer of Fox Sports first reported the deal.
As Andrew Brandt of ESPN tweeted, the Saints are pretty willingly taking a huge cap hit here:

Doug Farrar of Sports Illustrated has more on the contract implications for the Seahawks:
This is a pretty shocking move, surely, and one most folks didn't see coming. It will certainly dramatically improve Seattle's passing game, as Bruce Arthur of the Toronto Star noted:
Alex Flanagan of NBC Sports had Drew Brees' take on the move:
And one man in particular will be loving this deal, per Matt Miller of Bleacher Report:
Matt Bownen of Bleacher Report has more on how Graham will make Russell Wilson's life easier:
Of course, Graham and some of the Seattle's defenders might have to bury the hatchet, per Ed Werder of ESPN:
One would guess that gaining such a transformative talent would soften the Seattle defender's stance on Graham. And besides, they don't have to face him any longer.
Let's not forget, however, that there was another very good player involved in this deal, as Pro Football Focus on Twitter noted:
Without question, this trade changes both the Seahawks and Saints in a major way, and there will certainly be some fallout in New Orleans with the team's most dangerous offensive weapon being shipped out of town.
How will Drew Brees react? How will the Saints replace Graham's production? Is New Orleans now in rebuilding mode after last year's disappointing campaign? Was there a rift created between the Saints and Graham when his last contract was negotiated?
There will be a lot of questions to answer in New Orleans in the coming days. Still, getting back Unger and a first-round pick was a pretty solid return, even for one of the league's most dynamic offensive players.
Seattle, already arguably the NFC's best team, just got one of the NFL's best options in the passing game. The Seahawks will be hoping this trade makes them a force to be reckoned with for years to come.
With Wilson, Marshawn Lynch and now Graham, the Seahawks now have almost as compelling an offense as their vaunted defense. Yes, they'll need to bolster the offensive line, but players like Graham don't come around often. Seattle was wise to pounce on him when they had the chance.
