Bush Reportedly Reaches Agreement with 49ers
Saturday, March 14
Bush and the 49ers have agreed to a deal, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
On March 11, San Francisco confirmed Bush's visit. General manager Trent Baalke spoke about the team's interest in Bush: "We obviously have interest." Baalke added, via the team's official website, "We had a great conversation. He’s looking for a home, and we obviously have interest, that’s why we brought him in here."
Bush Drew Interest from Saints, Patriots Before Choosing 49ers
Friday, March 13
Bush visited the New England Patriots today, per Field Yates of ESPN. Dianna Marie Russini of NBC4 noted that Bush left New England without an offer.
Bush spent the first five seasons of his career with the New Orleans Saints, although he failed to crack 600 yards rushing in any of those campaigns. While he was an effective punt returner in New Orleans, Bush’s most productive season as a running back came when he was with the Miami Dolphins in 2011 (1,086 rushing yards, 296 receiving yards and seven total touchdowns).
However, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reported that the Saints informed Bush that they would not be signing him after agreeing to a contract with C.J. Spiller on March 13.
Even at 30 years old, Bush can still be electrifying in the open field and is an intriguing option for teams if they can get him at the right price.
The San Francisco 49ers will benefit from the added depth in the backfield with Frank Gore gone.
