Brandon Graham Re-Signs with Eagles: Latest Contract Details, Comments, Reaction

The Philadelphia Eagles re-signed outside linebacker Brandon Graham to a new four-year contract Monday, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport:

Graham took to Twitter and was elated to be back in Philadelphia:

Jeff McClane of The Philadelphia Inquire revealed the New York Giants "thought they had him. He was prepared to sign w/ the 4-3 team. But he changed his mind and Eagles stole him."

Although he hasn't lived up to the hype as the 2010 draft's 13th overall pick, the 26-year-old Graham has a tremendous skill set and has excelled at times as a pass-rusher.

Graham had 5.5 sacks and forced four fumbles in 2014, so there are signs he may be turning the corner in his career. The Eagles are certainly paying Graham as though he'll be a more prominent contributor moving forward.

To justify his massive payday, it's on Graham to produce better with the increased opportunities he ought to garner given the sizable investment Philadelphia has made in him. Eagles coach and personnel chief Chip Kelly hasn't been shy about making bold moves this offseason, and Graham is the latest to benefit.

Improvement on defense is vital for Philadelphia if it is meant to be a true championship contender. Graham is an X-factor who could help the cause on that side of the ball immensely.
