Manchester United Transfer News: Gareth Bale, Memphis Depay £150m Raid Rumours
Manchester United are reportedly set to be very active in the summer transfer window with Real Madrid's Gareth Bale still a prime target for the Red Devils.
According to Charles Perrin in the Express, boss Louis van Gaal is to be handed a £150 million transfer kitty to strengthen United's squad in the summer.
Some of that money is supposedly to be raised by the sale of Angel Di Maria, despite the Argentine only arriving in August 2014, and for a record-breaking £59.7 million, per John Richardson in the Express.

Richardson suggests that United will listen to offers for the 27-year-old, with Paris Saint-Germain apparently interested despite Di Maria's indifferent current form.
It seems unlikely that United would sell Di Maria so soon, with B/R UK's Alex Dimond suggesting below that it won't happen:
However, if as Richardson suggests, United are confident of luring Bale to Old Trafford, perhaps Di Maria will be deemed surplus to requirements.
It would seemingly be an odd move from United, though, as Di Maria is undeniably a world-class player, and Bale's current form is similarly uncharacteristically poor as his former Los Blancos team-mate, per Spanish football writer Andy West:
United would be well advised to stick with Di Maria for a while yet as his quality is undeniable and Bale's transfer fee would be astronomical.

PSV's Memphis Depay is another player being linked with United, the Red Devils reportedly lining up a £20 million bid for the 21-year-old winger, per Ben Jefferson in the Express.
And former Manchester United scout Ed van Stijn has talked up the youngster a great deal after some splendid Eredivisie form this term, per Jefferson:
"You can't judge Depay on his technique. With him you look at what he's doing with that technique to utilise it as much as possible. For example, look how often he makes sure he finds himself in one-on-ones facing the goal. It all comes down to details. If you compare him to a young Cristiano Ronaldo at the same age, then Depay has more strings to his bow. I like him better. Ronaldo made many of the same mistakes at Manchester United as he did when he was 17.
"
The Dutchman is most certainly an immense talent and has set the Eredivisie alight in 2014-15, per Squawka, with PSV dominating the division:
Depay was part of Van Gaal's Dutch squad that came third at last summer's World Cup, thus the pair's relationship could well see the youngster move to Old Trafford.
He has most certainly shown immense promise and could surely make the step up to Premier League football, his movement and interplay potentially making him a valuable asset at United.
Finally, in their ongoing bid to tighten up at the back, United are reportedly targeting PSG's right-back Gregory van der Wiel, with Rafael apparently set to leave Manchester in the summer, per Fichajes.net (h/t Metro's Jamie Sanderson).

Winger Antonio Valencia has spent much of this season in the right of defence, but United could certainly do with a genuine right-back, and Van Der Wiel would be a fine purchase.
He is reportedly valued at a relatively cheap £9 million and would bring speed, distribution and experience to the United back line.
Van Gaal and United are surely set for another busy summer of transfer activity with defensive issues particularly needing to be addressed, but any reports of a successful Bale capture seem unlikely.
