Jets Reportedly Sign Powell to New Deal
Sunday, March 8
Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reported that the team has re-signed Powell as free agency was set to begin.
Brian Costello of the New York Post reported that the two sides are still working on a deal to keep the running back in New York
Mehta orginally reported that the Jets think a reunion with Rex Ryan, their former head coach who has since moved to the Buffalo Bills, was the leading option for Powell:
In 47 games, Powell averaged a shade under four yards per carry and six touchdowns. He's a between-the-tackles runner and is a limited contributor in the passing game.
The Jets had a much greater need in the backfield and were a better landing spot for Powell.
