Lionel Messi Completes Record-Breaking Hat-Trick for Barcelona in Style

Lionel Messi got off to a slow start this season, but he is now playing on another level. 

He showed remarkable footwork to complete a landmark hat-trick against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday. 

The third goal meant he has now recorded the most hat-tricks in Spanish football history, as well as La Liga history:

Messi's first goal resulted from a penalty, but only after he missed and the referee ordered it to be retaken:

Messi's hat-trick has pulled him even with Cristiano Ronaldo on La Liga's goalscoring charts, at 30 apiece.
