Seahawks Release Miller

The Seahawks announced they've released Miller due to a failed physical. ESPN's Field Yates first reported the Seahawks decided to part ways with the 29-year-old.
Per Doug Farrar of Sports Illustrated, the savings for Seattle by releasing Miller in 2015 will be fairly significant:
Terry Blount of ESPN presents the numbers that Seattle saved by releasing Miller and what it means for Marshawn Lynch's potential extension:
Miller was originally a second-round draft pick by the Oakland Raiders in 2007 and emerged as one of the most productive tight ends in the NFL. He had 126 catches for 1,490 yards and eight touchdowns in his last two years with the Raiders.
The Seahawks originally gave Miller a five-year deal worth up to $34 million in August 2011 though declining performance did lead him to accept a restructured contract in March 2014.
Unfortunately, ankle problems limited Miller to three games last season before the Seahawks placed him on injured reserve in November.
Even though Miller has to prove his ankle will hold up well enough for a team to trust him, there should be a solid market for him. He's just 29 years old and has been effective in run or pass situations.
The injury doesn't give Miller any leverage in potential negotiations, but if he accepts a one-year deal somewhere and plays like he did at his peak, next year could be a good opportunity to get another big contract.
