Triple H's WrestleMania History Suggests He Will Lose to Sting

Alfred KonuwaMar 6, 2015

WWE pay-per-views don't get any bigger than WrestleMania, and on WWE's grandest stage, Triple H is one of its biggest losers.

Triple H's 8-10 record would count against his legacy if pro wrestling were a real sport, but his losses cemented rising stars such as John Cena, Batista and Randy Orton.

Triple H spent over half of his WrestleMania career on his back. But with every loss comes a new star, a memorable moment and better overall branding for WWE.

Chris Benoit's heartfelt embrace with longtime friend Eddie Guerrero, Daniel Bryan's Miracle on Bourbon Street and the "end of an era" embrace with Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker were all byproducts of Triple H losses.

In Sting's inaugural WWE match against Triple H, it should be a foregone conclusion that he will be the victor. Triple H's history at the event is further proof.

From WrestleManias XX through XXIV, Triple H competed in four matches and did not win one. In the second half of a Hall of Fame career, wins and losses no longer define Triple H.

At this point, the moments trump everything.

A match against Sting, the last-remaining megastar to compete under the WWE umbrella, is yet another sacred wrestling moment that will involve the current executive.

Through multiple world championship reigns, Triple H's reputation now relies solely on how good his matches are, not the result. Currently a top heel, a loss against Sting in the latter's first WWE match only makes sense.

The majority of the WWE roster only wishes it wasn't defined by match outcomes.

Dolph Ziggler will extend his streak of never having a one-on-one match. Losing the Intercontinental Championship Ladder match will further obscure his WrestleMania resume.

Bad News Barrett's WrestleMania career is also an unspectacular one. Currently mired in an inexplicable losing streak, the current intercontinental champion needs a win as bad as anybody.

The Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal is being used as a vehicle to showcase the budding rivalry between The Miz and Damien Mizdow. One of these two WWE Superstars must win the Battle Royal not only for fans to care about their split, but for the inevitable feud to follow.

Not all losses are created equally. For some WWE Superstars, winning is everything. For living legends like Triple H, wins crafted a remarkable legacy that no loss will shatter.
