NFL Free Agency 2015: Rumors and Predictions for Top Players on the Market
Although games won't start until September, NFL free agency has proven seasons can be decided in March.
Teams might not want to build entirely through expensive signings, but adding an impact veteran or two can make a huge difference for an organization. At the same time, losing a key player could leave a gaping hole in the roster that can never be replaced.
This should make it no surprise the top targets at each position are being heavily pursued by their own squads and plenty of others throughout the league. Here is a look at the latest buzz surrounding some of the top names on the market along with predictions for where each will land.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Ndamukong Suh, Defensive Tackle
We might have approached the point where it's easier to list the teams not interested in Ndamukong Suh than the ones that are. It seems everyone in the league wants to bring in the three-time All-Pro defensive tackle to help transform the defense.
Rand Getlin of Yahoo Sports reported the Miami Dolphins and Indianapolis Colts will likely be in the mix to complete a deal that could be worth over $60 million in guaranteed money. Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News added the New York Giants will also remain in the race.
Dianna Marie Russini of NBC also provided a look at more teams who are at least interested:
Out of this group, the Oakland Raiders might be a favorite, but the Jacksonville Jaguars should certainly not be overlooked. Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports agreed, explaining: "Count me among those who believe Jacksonville makes a very strong play for Ndamukong Suh, who is prized to make more money than anyone else in this free agent class."
The Jaguars showed plenty of positive signs with young players on both sides of the ball, but they still ranked 27th in the league in rushing yards allowed. Adding a dominant defensive tackle like Suh could make a huge difference as the unit finally lives up to the standard of head coach Gus Bradley.
Additionally, Eric Kay of CBS Sports provides another note to consider when examining free agency:
Jacksonville has money to spend, and Suh could represent a major splash for a franchise that needs someone to energize it. His ability to take home some extra cash could also help out for the eventual fines that would undoubtedly come.
There is a wide list of teams capable of signing the 28-year-old star, including his former team in the Detroit Lions, but the Jaguars are a team that makes a lot of sense for both sides.
Prediction: Jacksonville Jaguars
Randall Cobb, Wide Receiver
If the Oakland Raiders don't spend money on Suh, they will still want to use their cap space for an impact player. That might make Randall Cobb a very rich man.
Tom Silverstein of the Journal-Sentinel reported the receiver is looking for $12 million per year, while the Green Bay Packers don't want to spend more than $10 million. Although the Raiders might not exactly hit the target price, they are apparently willing to top the Packers.
According to Bull Huber of Scout.com, Oakland is prepared to offer a deal of $11 million per season thanks to former Packers director of player personnel Reggie McKenzie.
Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports also believes the Raiders will outbid Green Bay for the receiver:
This type of move would make perfect sense for a team with a young quarterback in Derek Carr but no real weapons around him. The second-round pick had a solid first season with the team, but it would greatly help his development if he could throw to a receiver who can make plays on his own.
After Cobb finished last season with 91 catches for 1,287 yards and 12 touchdowns, all career highs, he remains a pretty safe play as a free agent.
Meanwhile, Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com thinks the team could go even further in this area:
This remains a dream scenario for Carr and all Raiders fans, but signing Cobb would be a great start.
Prediction: Oakland Raiders
DeMarco Murray, Running Back
With the Dallas Cowboys using their franchise tag on Dez Bryant, there isn't a lot of money left for running back DeMarco Murray.
According to Mark Lane of Fox Sports Southwest, even team vice president Stephen Jones expects the running back to at least test free agency after saying talks have been "slow." He added: "[Murray] is probably going to, you know, get some peace and see what's out in the market and then we'll talk and see. I do believe deep down he'd love to stay in Dallas."
Considering Murray led the NFL with 1,845 rushing yards this past season, it seems likely someone will give him the money he is looking for this spring.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport (via Chris Wesseling) stated there was a "slim chance" the running back remains in Dallas and provided a look at some potential landing spots if he goes elsewhere:
Arguably the most intriguing team on this list is the Indianapolis Colts, a team that has struggled to find balance in the running game to pair with quarterback Andrew Luck. Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com believes this would be the best destination for the Pro Bowler:
"Two seasons after whiffing on Trent Richardson, general manager Ryan Grigson will spend on a proven NFL commodity. Grigson and offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton have been searching for a between-the-tackles runner to balance out their offense. Murray is a risk coming off a season with more than 500 touches, but he shouldn't cost that much for such a productive player.
"
Additionally, Stephen Holder of the Indy Star mentioned the Colts have more than $40 million in cap space but don't necessarily want to spend it on Suh, who could be a schematic mismatch. Instead, the franchise can add the downhill runner it has been looking for and finally be able to bring home a championship.
Prediction: Indianapolis Colts
