The Indianapolis Colts signed free-agent defensive lineman Kendall Langford on Tuesday, confirms the team's official website.
USA Today's Tom Pelissero reported the deal is for four years and $17.2 million, with Langford earning $5 million in his first season.
Langford is a solid run defender and has flashed pass-rushing ability in his seven seasons in the NFL, logging 15.5 sacks, including a career-best five in 2013.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Capable of playing defensive end in a 3-4 alignment or sliding inside at well over 300 pounds, the 29-year-old brings versatility to the Colts' trenches.
After spending four seasons with the Miami Dolphins, who drafted him in the third round in 2008 out of Hampton, Langford moved on to play for the loaded St. Louis Rams' front four. Then, he was released this offseason, as he would have been a $7 million cap hit in 2015, per Spotrac.com.
Rams defensive end Chris Long was confident Langford would thrive elsewhere:

Bleacher Report's Fahey viewed Langford to be a viable open-market option for teams in need of talent on the defensive front:
"Gonna miss @KendallLangford as a teammate but he's not going anywhere because he's still like my brother. Gonna make another team real happy
— Chris Long (@JOEL9ONE) February 26, 2015"
Indianapolis has to hope that analysis comes to fruition. There's little reason to doubt Langford. His release from St. Louis was more of a product of the immediate impact 2014 first-round draft pick Aaron Donald had for the Rams.
While St. Louis prioritizes building its roster elsewhere in order to get over the NFC playoff hump and compete better in the tough NFC West, the Colts will reap the benefits of having Langford in their locker room.
The parting of ways between the Rams and Langford and his arrival in Indianapolis should work out for all parties involved.
