Orlando Marathon 2015: Route, Course Map, Times, Event Details
The entire country is working its way out of a deep freeze, but Florida has remained relatively unscathed. Therefore, there's no better location to have a full marathon than Orlando over the first full weekend of March.
Held in Harbor Park, the 2015 Orlando Marathon will be a test of endurance for every runner. Running through a scenic course that goes around Lake Baldwin and Veterans' Memorial Park, each participant will receive a trophy for their efforts at the finish line.
The annual event is held to raise money for breast cancer research using veterans at the San Antonio Military Medical Center. With the race being sponsored by Help the Vets, Inc., each runner will be participating for a good cause.
A full route and course map can be found at OMarathon.com. For those interested in the half marathon, the course map is listed on HalfMarathons.net. Here's a look at the full race information and more.

Preview

Rather than taking itself seriously like the Boston Marathon and several other well-known races, the Orlando Marathon's goal is simple: Raise as much money as possible for breast cancer research.
There is no packet to pick up. Racers will not be wearing bibs. Rather than listing every single time, runners can choose whether or not they want their individual time posted.
Even the route is tweaked, as the first three laps of the half marathon will be ran clockwise before running the final two counter clockwise. Organizers told HalfMarathons.net, "runners can see others who are on the path, get a different view of the Lake and can wear their shoes on the other edge!"

Another change from traditional marathons is the time limit. Walkers are welcome on the course as long as they finish the trek in 12 hours, which should be plenty of time for the 26.2 miles.
Suffice to say, this is a different type of marathon, and that's exactly how they want it.
For those able to make it out to the event, registration is allowed on the day of the race. To reserve a spot before the event, runners can visit Active.com prior to Saturday.
Focus will be placed solely on raising money for research for the over 200 participants in the marathon and half marathon. In fact, a full list of the runners can be found at OMarathon.com. With that many racers in the field, the Help the Vets association simply hopes to make a dent in the overall cause.
