The Rams would later confirm the transaction.
Langford commented on the news, via his Twitter account:
On Mar. 2, Thomas reported that Langford would be visiting the Lions following his release.
Langford finished with just 25 tackles and one sack last season while Aaron Donald, the team's first-round pick in 2014, thrived in St. Louis' defense, finishing with nine sacks. In his three-year tenure with the Rams, Langford finished with a total of eight sacks.
In his seven-year career, split between the Miami Dolphins and the Rams, Langford has accumulated 242 tackles, 15.5 sacks and four forced fumbles.
While the 29-year-old was deemed surplus to requirements in St. Louis, Langford will surely find a new home on the free-agent market. He's still a productive player, a veteran presence in the locker room and likely would have stuck in St. Louis had his cap hit not been so significant.
ESPN's Nick Wagoner believes multiple teams will be interested:
For teams looking to solidify through the interior of the defensive line, Langford will surely be an appealing option.
