Yankees Employee Fired After Twitter Comments About Curt Schilling's Daughter

Kyle NewportFeb 26, 2015

It's no secret that most (if not all) fathers are very protective of their daughters. As a father, former MLB pitcher Curt Schilling doesn't like it when people make suggestive remarks about his daughter.

Update from Tuesday, March 3

Schilling took to his blog on Sunday to clear up the situation regarding his tweets.

If you are a dad this is something you well know already, if you are a dad with a daughter this is likely to get your blood going. If you are a boy, or young man, or husband, and you haven’t experienced children yet, or haven’t had a daughter, it’s next to impossible for you to understand.

Now I’ve been using computers since 1981. I was a professional baseball player for 22 years. I played 10+ years in Philadelphia. I played 5 in Boston. I shared a locker room with well over a thousand teammates and I played and lived at school a year before doing so.

That’s all to say I am absolutely aware of social media and how it works. As someone who’s said about 2.34 billion things he shouldn’t have, I get it.

"

Schilling goes on to name Sean MacDonald, a part-time ticket seller for the New York Yankees, as one of the Twitter users who sent vulgar tweets about his daughter. According to a Yankees' director of communications Jason Zillo, via Erin O'Neill of NJ.com, MacDonald has been fired by the team:

"

MacDonald was hired as a part-time ticket seller for the New York Yankees at the end of January, according to Jason Zillo, the team's director of communications.

Zillo said MacDonald worked about 18 hours over four days for the Yankees. Zillo said MacDonald was fired today.

"We have zero tolerance for anything like this," Zillo said. "We've terminated him."

"

--End of Update--

On Wednesday, Schilling announced on Twitter that his daughter, Gabby, would be continuing her softball career with the Salve Regina Seahawks:

What a proud dad.

Unfortunately, there are those on the Internet who can't help but make suggestive remarks. That's when Schilling's fatherly instincts took over.

Don't mess with the Schillings.
