WWE Armchair Booking: How to Maximize Cesaro and Tyson Kidd's Title Reign
Thanks to swift feet and stiff uppercuts, Cesaro and Tyson Kidd are WWE's new tag team champs.
Their title reign is a chance to elevate both men and to produce a collection of memorable matches. The key to achieving those goals is make them more than mat masters, showcasing their personality along with their ring work. Varying up their foes is vital as well.
Much of The Usos' second run with the belts dragged, as they would take on The Miz or Damien Mizdow again and again with no narrative development.

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Rather than having them stay in place for long, Cesaro and Kidd should tell a story of dominance and cowardice that lasts for months. Making them unbearably boastful is a good start to doing just that.
The Showoffs
Cesaro and Kidd should believe that they are better at wrestling than anyone else in the division. That won't be hard for fans to buy with as talented as they both are.
When the champs collided with Jimmy Uso in a restaurant a few weeks back, WWE showed us a glimpse of this line of thinking. Kidd dismissed The Usos' high-flying style and touted what he and Cesaro do as superior.
This should be the heart of their gimmick and the inspiration for them to exude cockiness.
When other tag teams are going to battle, Cesaro and Kidd should come out to the entrance ramp and interrupt them. Kidd can say, "We know fans don't want to watch this low-class offense. They want to see artists at work."
He then cues up a highlight clip of him and Cesaro. The champs encourage fans to watch them in action instead.
This is an easy way to start a new feud. If The Lucha Dragons or The New Day suffer this treatment, they will be plenty motivated to come chase down Cesaro and Kidd.

During other matches, Cesaro and Kidd can come down to ringside, pull up a chair and begin to give the teams in the ring scorecards for their performances. When someone begins to pound a guy in the corner with right hands, Cesaro can hold up a card with a "2" on it.
Kidd can give slightly worse grades each time. Natalya should get in on the act as well.
This can create some amusing moments and give Cesaro and Kidd a constant presence in the division.
They spend their days looking down at everyone else. All the babyface squads come at them enraged, looking to prove themselves.
String of Challengers
To avoid the staleness that has beset the division recently, Cesaro and Kidd shouldn't engage in a single feud for long. Other than The Usos, who have been highlighted plenty as of late, there is not a team that would make for a good long-term rival.
Rather than force things with a feud between The New Day and the champs, for example, it's better to tell a story with a bigger arc, one that includes many squads.
A team earns its way into contention, challenges and falls to Cesaro and Kidd. The champions look vulnerable despite their victory and therefore look to duck that team the next time around.
Begin with giving The Usos one more chance.
The Usos win a Beat the Clock challenge against Cesaro and Kidd to earn the right to name the stipulation. They choose to face the men that took their titles at WrestleMania in a Ladder match. This brings back a tradition at the event and favors The Usos because of their high-flying ability.

Cesaro and Kidd survive that test.
Next up are The Lucha Dragons, who earn their shot by way of a winning streak. The New Day and The Prime Time Players follow.
Each time, the duo gets one pay-per-view title match and the tag champs refuse to face them anymore. "We already defeated you. There is clearly no chance for you to beat us," Cesaro could proclaim.
The champs brag more than ever. They start talking about how only the great teams of the past could give them a worthy challenge. They cackle at other teams on guest commentary and grade their peers poorly with their scorecards.
That's when a super-team forms.
Tournament to Crown New Contenders
Leading up to SummerSlam, there is no clear No. 1 contender to Cesaro and Kidd.
The champs then sit back and watch as WWE puts together a tournament to decide who will face them at that pay-per-view. The entire division enters, as well as a few pairings from NXT. Everyone wants a crack at the braggarts.
The final team to enter should be a squad composed of stars not normally associated with the tag team division.
Bring in an unexpected name such as Randy Orton. Perhaps Orton can recruit Sami Zayn from NXT, saying that he sees greatness in him.
Orton would bring star power to the division, and whomever he chooses as his partner will get a huge boost. And if WWE goes with the Zayn idea, the former NXT champ has plenty of past clashes to build on with both Cesaro and Kidd.
A fresh, exciting team should come out of this tournament as the victors. Cesaro and Kidd are clearly nervous about facing them. They try to up their chances of success at SummerSlam by injuring one of their challengers before the event.
The limping babyface leads his team into battle at SummerSlam, primed for a blockbuster showdown.
