Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Mike Glennon has shown some signs of being a potential long-term, successful NFL starter. However, armed with the top overall pick in the 2015 draft, the Bucs may trade him away.

Lovie Smith Confirms Team is Fielding Calls for Glennon

Wednesday, March 25

Pat Yasinskas of ESPN reported that Smith confirmed the Buccaneers are fielding calls for Glennon as the team prepares to potentially draft Jameis Winston with the No. 1 overall pick in this year's NFL draft.

Where Does Glennon Rank on Browns' QB Options?

Where does Glennon rank on the list of available options for the Browns at quarterback in 2015? Bleacher Report's Adam Lefkoe and Chris Simms break it down:

Glennon Reportedly Could Net 3rd-Round Pick; Browns Interested

Tuesday, Feb. 24

ESPN NFL Insider Adam Caplan reports that Tampa Bay could ship Glennon away for as much as a third-round pick due to the scarcity of options available at the all-important quarterback position:

The Cleveland Browns are still searching for a quarterback, with Johnny Manziel in rehab, Brian Hoyer hitting the open market and only Connor Shaw remaining as a roster incumbent.

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com hears that Cleveland is kicking the tires on Glennon:

"

One name that was brought up to me more than once in NFL circles: Tampa Bay's Mike Glennon. Two league sources are hearing the Browns have at least sniffed around on Glennon's potential availability. While I haven't heard of any formal offers, Glennon should be a player to watch in the Browns' Great QB race—if the Bucs are willing to part with him.

"

This is a report Caplan responded to directly, essentially confirming the interest:

Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot logged what Bucs coach Lovie Smith recently said regarding Glennon's future in Tampa Bay—which wasn't the most ringing endorsement:

Cabot added that another recent Tampa Bay quarterback is on the Browns' radar:

It would be quite interesting if Cleveland, eager for an answer under center, added one or both of the signal-callers who contributed to the Bucs' league-worst 2014 campaign.

Glennon is just 25 years old, sports a towering 6'6" frame and has the cannon arm that the Browns could covet to combat the cold conditions of the AFC North. He also owns a 5-13 record as a starter, has averaged a modest 6.5 yards per attempt and may cost Cleveland a valuable draft asset.

There are obvious positives and negatives to bringing Glennon in, but the Browns need to do something to address a quarterback situation that has prevented them from any type of stability or sustainable success since reentering the NFL in 1999.

Considering he's logged just six quarters as a starter and could thrive if he dedicates himself to football, Manziel can't be dismissed just yet. Having two young quarterbacks with upside to open training camp can only help Cleveland.

Other quarterback-needy teams will likely pursue Glennon because the free-agent market offers little and the draft only has two perceived franchise-caliber passers in Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota.
