Chelsea confirmed the news on their official website while also revealing the fact that Hazard's deal includes a buy-back option. "Chelsea Football Club wishes Thorgan well for the future and will continue to monitor his progress," reads the official statement.

Football writer Clark Whitney noted the potential fee involved:
Hazard joined the Blues in 2012 alongside brother Eden, who has developed into one of the most important players at Stamford Bridge. Thorgan spent two years on loan at Belgian side Zulte Waregem, however, before heading to Gladbach. He failed to make a first-team appearance for Chelsea.
The 21-year-old has scored two and assisted seven in all competitions this season, per WhoScored.com. He is a creative player—someone who may always suffer in comparison to Eden—and has the quality to be a star in his own right.
With a lot of hard work and a little luck, he may still achieve that in west London, as Chelsea's buy-back option suggests.
