While most of the top-rated prospects helped themselves, seemingly securing their statuses as first-round picks, some lesser-known participants made their marks in Indianapolis. Rest assured, we'll be hearing plenty more about these players in the combine's aftermath.

But let's stop beating around the bush here. Before we delve into some in-depth analysis and buzz from Saturday's workouts, here's a look at how the first round of the impending draft is likely to shake out based on what transpired on Day 4 of the combine.

Buzz from Day 4 of Scouting Combine

If you've already scanned through the above mock draft, you've seen quarterbacks Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota going at No. 1 and No. 2 overall, respectively. Much of that had to do with their performances Saturday.

Winston continues to impress in every aspect of the combine. He displayed a great deal of confidence during his Friday press conference, and that continued through this Saturday workouts. While his 4.97-second 40-yard dash wasn't overly impressive, he flourished during positional drills.

One of Winston's biggest knocks entering Indianapolis was his abundance of interceptions while at Florida State (28 picks in 27 games). Despite unfamiliar conditions and wide receivers, Winston was accurate, throwing on time while displaying both velocity and touch. His throwing motion was clean, and he launched well-placed deep balls.

NFL Media's Daniel Jeremiah came away impressed:

Mariota's athleticism is what separated him from the pack early on Saturday. He ran a 4.52-second 40-yard dash—the fastest among participating quarterbacks. Like Winston, Mariota was accurate, and his throwing motion was smooth. There were doubts over his ability to make NFL-type throws before the combine, and he did well to silence his critics.

While Mariota's showing was solid, Winston still stole the show. Here's what Bleacher Report's Matt Miller had to say following Saturday's action:

There's still a significant drop after those two signal-callers, but both UCLA's Brett Hundley and Baylor's Bryce Petty performed well during their Day 4 workouts. Petty displayed his strong arm and easy throwing motion, while Hundley showed good rhythm and athleticism.

ESPN's John Clayton tweeted his thoughts on where the two quarterbacks stand following their workouts:

A bevy of talented wide receivers took the field Saturday, and many impressed onlookers.

West Virginia's Kevin White made his argument to be the draft's top receiver selected. Despite his good size of 6'3" and 215 pounds, he still ran a blazing 4.35-second 40-yard dash and looked comfortable during positional drills, making great catches and showing good agility.

Miller tweeted a very flattering comparison to the former Mountaineer:

Alabama's Amari Cooper wasn't quite as dominant in his workouts as White, but he did post a respectable 4.42-second 40-yard dash. His claim to fame is his polished skill set, complete with crisp route running and fantastic hands. All of those traits were well on display during Saturday's workouts.

Bleacher Report's Matt Bowen summed up Cooper's performance perfectly:

After the big names, there were several "second-tier" wide receivers who should be catapulting up big boards following the Day 4 action.

Miami speedster Phillip Dorsett flashed his great quickness with a 4.33-second 40-yard dash, and Ohio State's Devin Smith was solid during positional drills, showcasing his agility and straight-line speed. The receiver who stood out most, though, was Georgia's Chris Conley.

Conley absolutely blew up the combine, finishing as a top performer in the 40-yard dash, bench press, vertical jump and broad jump. Here's his numbers, via NFL:

While the former Bulldog wasn't exactly ranked by some analysts, his all-around effort in Indianapolis will surely have teams considering him as a late-round prospect who can earn a roster spot on special teams.

All eyes were on Melvin Gordon when the running backs got their chance to shine. The Wisconsin product ran a solid 4.52-second 40-yard dash, making him the top performer. Everyone was waiting to see how Gordon would perform as a pass-catcher due to his lack of experience in the passing game in Wisconsin's run-heavy offense.

This tweet by Andrew Kulha of 247Sports is an accurate assessment:

Gordon showed good agility, the ability to make quick cuts, caught passes cleanly without allowing the ball to hit his body and even made a nice adjustment on a deeper pass. He appears well equipped to flourish in the NFL as a three-down back, and he's well on his way to ending the drought of first-round running backs.

Michigan State's Jeremy Langford ran the fastest 40-yard dash of all running backs, clocking in at 4.42 seconds, and while he and others performed admirably Saturday, there weren't any other cases made for first-round consideration.

Ameer Abdullah, Jay Ajayi and Duke Johnson are certainly intriguing second-round prospects, and each fared well on Day 4, but the only other potential first-rounder in this year's draft will continue to be Todd Gurley. He didn't participate Saturday due to his ongoing recovery from a torn ACL, and we'll have to wait until his knee is examined to speculate on whether he'll slide outside of the draft's first 32 picks.
