WWE Superstar of the Week for February 21

The Doctor Chris MuellerFeb 21, 2015

Sunday is WWE's inaugural Fastlane pay-per-view, which is taking the spot once occupied by the Elimination Chamber event.

This means we won't see six Superstars battle inside the hellish structure, but that doesn't necessarily mean it won't be a good show.

Since Monday's Raw, a few Superstars have stepped up and given us more entertainment than anyone else on the roster, but only one can be the Superstar of the Week.

TOP NEWS

WRESTLING: OCT 02 AEW Dynamite/Rampage Pittsburgh
Monday Night RAW

Honorable Mention: Roman Reigns

The former Shield enforcer is about to participate in his first one-on-one main event at a PPV, and he'll be facing one of the most popular Superstars on the roster, Daniel Bryan.

Both men screwed with each other Monday, providing distractions during each other's match. Bryan got the crowd to chant his favorite three-letter word over and over, while Reigns walked around and posed for selfies while signing autographs.

These kinds of mind games are crucial to making a face-versus-face feud work, and Reigns definitely showed he is capable of being more than just a powerhouse by getting in Bryan's head.

The fight they had at the end of the night was the most entertaining part of Raw. Reigns and Bryan beat the hell out of each other, which was evidenced by the cuts and bruises visible on Bryan during SmackDown.

Regardless of whether you think he is ready to be a top star, there is no denying that Reigns has been getting better and better with each passing week.

Honorable Mention: Triple H

During Monday's Raw, Triple H and Ric Flair had a segment that saw the 16-time world champion give his former Evolution teammate some words of wisdom.

Triple H played the heel perfectly. Not only did he manage to both respect and insult his mentor, but he garnered some needed heat by shoving Flair to the ground in a moment that resonated with the crowd.

He may have apologized during his weekly interview with Michael Cole, but Trips definitely advanced his role as the bad guy in this feud well with this one simple segment.

Sting and Triple H are set to have a big showdown at Fastlane, which will likely plant the seeds for a match at WrestleMania. Making the fans dislike The Game more than they already did before he even faces off with the Icon helped set up the good-versus-evil dynamic the way it needs to be.

Superstar of the Week for February 21: Daniel Bryan

Let's be honest: The only segment from this week that got the fans excited for Fastlane was the brawl between Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan that closed out Raw.

For the past few weeks, there were signs of animosity brewing between the two, but they kept things professional for the most part.

But Reigns cost Bryan a match with Big Show and all hell broke loose Monday. When Reigns ran in the ring and delivered a Superman Punch to Show, Bryan was already perched on the top rope.

When the leader of the "Yes Movement" realized that Reigns had caused him to be disqualified, he could no longer hold back his rage and hit the big Samoan with a dropkick that knocked him all the way out to the floor.

At that moment, the feud became about more than the title shot at WrestleMania. It became personal, and everyone bought into it because both men made it fun to watch, especially Bryan.

Some might think that having Reigns face one of the biggest fan favorites in the company will turn the crowd against him, but Bryan is actually the perfect person to prepare him for his future as a main event player.

Everyone loves Bryan because he is one of the best wrestlers in the business and has that everyman quality that makes it easy to connect with the fans.

He not only stole the show Monday, but he managed to have one of the better matches on SmackDown despite only having a few minutes to work with.

When it comes to consistency, few measure up to Bryan, and this was one of those weeks when he definitely rose above the rest.

What do you think? Was Daniel Bryan the Superstar of the Week? If not, then who?
