Usos vs. Cesaro and Tyson Kidd: Winner and Reaction from 2015 WWE Fastlane

Mike ChiariFeb 22, 2015

The Usos have been the preeminent tag team in WWE over the past year, but they were stopped in their tracks Sunday night at Fastlane by the impressive pairing of Cesaro and Tyson Kidd.

WWE broadcaster Kyle Edwards provided an interesting fun fact on the victory:

The result seemed to be the one fans wanted, noted WrestlingINC.com:

Wrestling legend Iron Sheik sure seemed pleased:

Over the past several weeks, Cesaro and Kidd have emerged as a force in WWE's otherwise moribund tag team division. Both Superstars were underutilized as singles competitors, but they have quickly gelled into a skilled and entertaining duo.

During the build toward Fastlane, Cesaro and Kidd certainly had their issues with The Usos. Much of that stemmed from a double date that was planned by the wives of Kidd and Jimmy Uso. Kidd arrived late with Cesaro in tow and a brawl ultimately broke out.

While Naomi tried to stand up for Natalya due to the manner in which Kidd has treated her, Nattie snapped back in support of her husband.

On top of that, Cesaro and Kidd beat Jimmy and Jey in singles matches and a tag team contest, so they entered Fastlane with a great deal of momentum on their side.

That success clearly resulted in the challengers having confidence in their ability to become tag champs together for the first time.

The Swiss Superman didn't hesitate to make a bold prediction regarding their Fastlane clash with The Usos on Twitter:

Kidd concurred with Cesaro's assessment, although he went about expressing it in an even cockier way than his partner:

Regardless of the result, the expectation entering Fastlane was that these two teams would put on a spectacular match. All four participants are excellent in-ring workers as individuals, and they didn't disappoint the WWE Universe.

Despite not always having the best competition to go up against, The Usos have been remarkably consistent from a wrestling standpoint by putting on compelling matches with everyone put in front of them.

It can be argued that Cesaro and Kidd were their most talented opponents to date, and there is no question that both sides were able to rise to the occasion.

The Usos have essentially been forced to put the tag team division on their backs for the past year. While other teams have disbanded, the Samoan twins have been true constants. Based on the great battle they had with Cesaro and Kidd at Fastlane, though, it looks as though they may not have to carry the full burden any longer.

Cesaro and Kidd most definitely proved their worth on the pay-per-view stage, and they could be The Usos' chief rivals for the foreseeable future.

Sunday's match was so strong that it wouldn't be at all surprising to see this rivalry continue and receive proper billing on the WrestleMania 31 card next month.
