
Twitter Reacts to Real Madrid's Champions League Victory over Schalke
The last time Real Madrid headed to Gelsenkirchen in the Champions League group stage, the "BBC" (Bale, Benzema and Cristiano) devastated Schalke with a 6-1 victory, only allowing the Germans a consolation in injury time.
Los Blancos' 2-0 victory on Wednesday wasn't quite so demoralising, but it certainly left the Bundesliga side with an awful lot to do in the return leg at the Bernabeu.
Before kick-off, there was much talk of the absentees. Schalke were without wunderkind Julian Draxler, while Sergio Ramos and James Rodriguez didn't start for Real Madrid. Die Konigsblauen also started their third-choice keeper against their intimidating opposition...

In the stadium, a travelling Madrid fan emerged as the early winner of the evening with a banner that alluded to Cristiano Ronaldo's recent 30th birthday party...
There was also much talk of Ronaldo's devastating goal drought, which had seen the Portuguese megastar fail to find the net in three entire games...

And for the first 20 minutes, they were generally proven right...
However, the monotony was broken in the 26th minute, when Madrid earned an away goal. It could only have come from one man...

As the second half started, there wasn't too much action to pass comment on, but the praise for Schalke keeper Timon Wellenreuther kept coming in...
The complaints about the dullness of the tie also continued...
