Daniel Bryan vs. Roman Reigns: Most Intriguing Outcomes at WWE Fastlane 2015

Donald WoodFeb 18, 2015

When Daniel Bryan squares off against Roman Reigns at WWE Fastlane 2015, the two men will be battling for the opportunity to advance to the main event of WrestleMania 31 against Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Reigns won the 2015 Royal Rumble but accepted The Authority’s challenge of taking on the winner of the match between Seth Rollins and Bryan at Fastlane. Ever since Bryan earned his spot in the main event of the February pay-per-view, the tension between the two combatants has been growing.

Here are the most intriguing outcomes for the Bryan vs. Reigns match at WWE Fastlane.

Brock Lesnar Gets Involved

The WWE has booked the feud between Bryan and Reigns to perfection thus far. By cutting down on the talking segments for Reigns and letting Bryan carry the storyline in the ring and on the mic for the most part, the company has ensured the angle will unfold correctly.

At Fastlane, though, the match between Bryan and Reigns should end when Lesnar attacks both men and leaves them unconscious in the ring.

Lesnar has a vested interest in the outcome of the Fastlane main event. With the winner going on to challenge for Lesnar's championship at WrestleMania, Paul Heyman must advise his client to make a statement to both possible combatants.

The hope is that Bryan and Reigns are given plenty of time in the ring. Bryan can help carry Reigns, and the resulting match should help even the most skeptical detractors get behind the former member of The Shield as a future world champion.

After a long and grueling bout that features plenty of exciting action, Lesnar should interfere just as the match appears to be ending. Whether he is sitting ringside or his music hits and he arrives from the back, the champion should hit both men with his finisher and set the stage for the WrestleMania Triple Threat.

Roman Reigns Gets the Rub

While it’s uncertain if plans have changed, the WWE has faith in Reigns as one of the top stars moving forward following his victory in the 2015 Royal Rumble. As great as Bryan has been over the last several years, riding with Reigns is not the worst-case scenario.

Bryan is the most talented worker in the wrestling business today, and he will have no problem masking Reigns’ weaknesses in the Fastlane main event. As much as Bryan deserves to go on to WrestleMania, there is a chance he was only put in this match to get Reigns over with the crowd.

There has been backlash against Reigns as the next top guy in the WWE because many fans and experts don’t feel he is ready on the mic or in the ring. Facing Bryan and beating him at the final pay-per-view before WrestleMania would give the Royal Rumble winner more credibility.

If Bryan helps carry Reigns to an interesting match at Fastlane—a task that shouldn’t be too tough, as the two men have worked together a lot over the last month—and gives him the rub by taking the clean loss, the former world champion would basically be giving Reigns his blessing.

When the WWE Universe sees Bryan shake Reigns’ hand and the two men embrace despite Reigns' victory, the fans will be forced to reconsider their stance on The Juggernaut heading into WrestleMania.

Or at least that would be the hope of WWE officials.

Daniel Bryan Overcomes the Odds

One possibility not being talked about enough is Bryan once again overcoming the odds and beating Reigns to earn the right to advance to WrestleMania. The WWE Universe made its feelings clear at the Royal Rumble, and the company proved last year it was willing to change the plan.

Bryan was stripped of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship last year and never got his chance to earn the title back. Interjecting him into the WrestleMania main event in a Triple Threat makes the most sense, but an outright win is a possibility.

As Bryan said immediately following the Royal Rumble, via WWE.com, the company missed out on the opportunity to pit him against Lesnar in the ultimate David vs. Goliath storyline. With the unwavering support of the majority of fans, Bryan winning outright is a viable option Sunday.

It is the least likely scenario, but with Bryan never getting a real opportunity to have a long run with the company’s top title, Bryan stealing the win Sunday and going on to challenge Lesnar for the championship is not as far-fetched as once believed.
