Hundley to Participate in All QB Drills at Combine
Tuesday, Feb. 17
Hundley is apparently looking to make a good impression this week. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, he is expected to participate in all of the quarterback drills in Indianapolis at the combine:
It's a smart move for Hundley to participate in drills. He drew some criticism in January for declining to participate in the Senior Bowl, one of the biggest all-star scouting events for college players.
ESPN's Todd McShay, Steve Muench and Kevin Weidl wrote at the time that skipping Mobile was a "missed opportunity" for Hundley because the crop of quarterbacks who were there failed to impress:
"He has good size for the position and good athleticism and arm strength, and he is an accurate passer when throwing to his first read, so he would have likely done well in the one-on-one passing drills in Mobile this week. He also likely would have stood out in a group of quarterbacks that isn't as strong as we've seen here in seasons past.
"
While Hundley has limited the amount of looks scouts can have with him by skipping the Senior Bowl, he can make everyone forget that with a strong performance at the combine. There's no clear No. 3 quarterback in this draft class after Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota.
Whether or not Hundley is able to become a first-round pick with his workout will be up for debate, but there's no denying the former UCLA star has a chance to become one of the standouts during this week of evaluations because the list of high-profile quarterbacks who do everything at the combine is often small.
