Bray Wyatt's Rumored Feud Against Undertaker Must Begin at WWE Fastlane

Donald WoodFeb 18, 2015

Bray Wyatt has been subtly calling out an unnamed Superstar in his promos over the last several weeks, but it’s time for Undertaker to make his presence felt at WWE Fastlane and officially begin the rumored feud.

According to F4WOnline.com (h/t Wrestling Inc), the plan to have Wyatt fight Undertaker at WrestleMania 31 has been in place for months. The recent vignettes likely indicate that the WWE knows the legend will return and is setting the stage for that moment.

To make the biggest possible impact, Undertaker should make his triumphant return at Fastlane on Sunday.

Just as Sting made his debut with the WWE at the 2014 edition of Survivor Series, a pay-per-view the company was giving away for free to hype the WWE Network, Undertaker showing up at Fastlane during a free PPV would have a similar impact and create serious mainstream buzz.

Not only would the WWE draw serious interest for Raw the following night after the news of Undertaker’s return spread through the wrestling community, but it would also help all the fans on the fence about ordering WrestleMania to make the decision to purchase the network.

The vast majority of the fans who signed up for the free trial of the WWE Network in February would be inclined to sign up for the pay service after seeing a legend like Undertaker enter the ring again, especially against one of the brightest young stars in the business.

Wyatt’s recent promos have been some of the best he has ever cut in his short career.

A potential match against Undertaker would be a huge task for a 27-year-old WWE Superstar, and it is clear that he has stepped up his game in recent months.

With both Wyatt and Undertaker possessing almost supernatural gimmicks, the WWE Universe wants as much of this storyline as possible. The sooner the two men come face to face, the sooner the theatrical mind games can begin.

The best possible option would be Undertaker making his presence felt without actually showing up at Fastlane.

Fans would instantly feel let down by not seeing The Deadman, but if Wyatt cuts a live promo in the ring running down Undertaker with veiled jabs, it would give the legend the chance to send a sign that he is taking notice of the taunts.

Whether it’s a lightning bolt hitting the ring post, a cryptic video or just the sound of the gong playing while the arena is dark, The Undertaker can signal his return without actually appearing on the Fastlane PPV.

Overshadowing Sting’s appearance at Sunday's show is something WWE doesn’t want to do, but indicating that Undertaker is on his way back is imperative. Allowing him to answer Wyatt’s call without stepping into the ring would avoid any conflict and build legitimate excitement for Raw the following night.

If the company is desperate for Undertaker to physically appear at Fastlane, the legend coming to the ring and cutting a promo teasing retirement would be an interesting swerve.

After Wyatt hinted that he will come find the person he has been referencing if he doesn’t get an answer, this would be the perfect opportunity for the first interaction between these two characters.

As Undertaker continues hinting at walking away, Wyatt would interrupt him and begin cutting a promo explaining why he has been referencing the legend for the last several weeks. After a brief staredown, Wyatt would attack Undertaker but be thwarted by The Deadman.

Just standing in the ring with Undertaker would give Wyatt a massive rub.

WWE Fastlane is the final PPV before WrestleMania 31 and the company must set its biggest storylines in motion as soon as possible. With the WWE Network being free in February, the return of Undertaker at the event would cause a legitimate buzz heading into the most important show of the year.

The WWE Universe wants interaction between Wyatt and The Deadman at Fastlane.
