Bostick tweeted the news:

Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com confirmed that Bostick had been released.

Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel had more on the financial implications of the move:

Bostick, who will tragically be remembered by most in Green Bay for mishandling a fourth-quarter onside kick in this year's NFC Championship Game against the Seattle Seahawks, finished his Packers career with nine receptions for 123 yards and two touchdowns.

Generally an in-line blocker and special teams player, Bostick will be looking to start over with a new team and likely distance himself from that unfortunate gaffe in January. While Bostick might not be much of an asset in the passing game, he can still fill a role for an NFL team.

As for the Packers, tight end is a pretty major need and one they will likely address either through free agency or in the draft. They might also give youngster Richard Rodgers a chance to prove he can be the man for the team at the position.
