WWE Fast Lane 2015: Best Possible Finishes for Daniel Bryan vs. Roman Reigns

Donald WoodFeb 9, 2015

When former WWE champion Daniel Bryan steps into the ring against Royal Rumble winner Roman Reigns at Fast Lane 2015, the two men will be battling for the right to main event WrestleMania 31 against Brock Lesnar for the world title.

The stakes in the match are almost as high as the in-ring expectations for a bout of this magnitude.

With Bryan being one of the best technical wrestlers in the world today and Reigns being relatively green in the ring, it will be up to the former champion to dictate the pace of the match and help produce big moments.

After Bryan carries Reigns in an entertaining performance, how the ending shakes out will be exponentially more important than the match itself. Here are the best possible outcomes for Fast Lane’s inaugural main event.

Brock Lesnar Doesn’t Wait Until WrestleMania

One of the most interesting possibilities for Fast Lane could be the appearance of Brock Lesnar in the front row as a spectator. Just as the UFC does in mixed martial arts, fighters often appear at their potential opponent’s fight to scout and to possibly answer any trash talk.

Lesnar has been a part of this publicity stunt in the past, and sitting just a few feet away from the ring with his manager Paul Heyman and the world title would be the perfect backdrop for the match between Bryan and Reigns.

With Bryan and Reigns doing battle for the chance to fight Lesnar, both men in the match could be distracted by the champion at points in the match. Instead of getting involved right away, Lesnar should allow Bryan and Reigns to beat each other into submission.

When it is clear that the match is almost over, Lesnar should jump the guardrail and attack both men in the ring. Hitting F-5s on both Bryan and Reigns would send a message to the WWE Universe that the main event of WrestleMania would be a Triple Threat.

If Lesnar closes Fast Lane standing tall over both potential challengers with no clear winner announced, the WWE Universe may complain at first, but the inclusion of Bryan in the title match at WrestleMania would ease the pain.

Reigns Cements His WrestleMania Spot

There are many reasons why it started, but the backlash against Roman Reigns is undeniable in front of certain crowds. The WWE would be smart to just run with the heat and go with a full-blown heel turn for the Royal Rumble winner.

Reigns is still getting cheered in many cities, but the reaction is nowhere near as big as the one Bryan draws every time he makes an appearance. Add in the fact that Reigns gets a much smaller reaction than Lesnar, and now would be the perfect time to turn him heel.

Attacking Bryan verbally in a backstage segment on last week’s Raw was not something fans expect from a top face. If there were anyone who could ensure the full effect of a heel turn, it would be a fan favorite like Bryan.

Whether it’s a sneak attack earlier in the PPV or clearly cheating behind the referee's back in the Fast Lane match, Reigns winning against Bryan via a dirty finish would ensure the majority of the WWE Universe turns on him.

Add in the face reactions Lesnar has been getting as the most dominant force in the WWE, and turning Reigns heel against Bryan and putting him against Lesnar would instantly catapult the former member of The Shield into the upper echelon of heels.

The WWE Universe Forces Major Changes

Another intriguing possibility would be the WWE Universe actually forcing the company to make serious changes to the main event of WrestleMania once again. The crowds clearly want Bryan in the title scene, and Fast Lane is the place to make it happen.

According to The Wrestling Observer, via WrestlingInc.com, Vince McMahon is booking Lesnar to defend the WWE Championship against both Reigns and Bryan at WrestleMania 31. While it’s always smart to take the dirt sheets with a grain of salt, the company proved last year it would change the main event.

If the plan is for a Triple Threat, the ending of Fast Lane between Reigns and Bryan must be believable. While my initial idea of having Lesnar attack them should be a possibility, another idea would be a controversial pinfall with both men’s shoulders on the mat.

Triple H and The Authority have pushed how much controversy surrounded the Royal Rumble and Reigns winning this year, so adding to the frenzy by walking out of Fast Lane without a clear No. 1 contender would continue to create a buzz surrounding the championship match.

The possibility of Lesnar, Reigns and Bryan in the same bout for the title is intriguing, and it could be the protection Reigns needs to main event WrestleMania. With Bryan and Lesnar doing the heavy lifting, Reigns could earn the experience without being forced to carry a match.
