Kendrick Perkins Suspended 1 Game: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction

Tim KeeneyFeb 7, 2015

Oklahoma City Thunder center Kendrick Perkins, who made face-to-face contact with New Orleans Pelicans wing Tyreke Evans during a mini-scuffle Friday night, has received a one-game suspension from the NBA

USA Today's Sam Amick relayed the news:

In the first quarter of Friday's 116-113 loss, Perkins fouled Evans on a fast break. The two had a few words, and the Thunder big man got a little too close for comfort. Both players received technical fouls.

Here's a look at the incident, via The Oklahoman's Anthony Slater:

Perkins is averaging just 4.0 points per game on the season, but he provides some solid rebounding (5.6 per contest) and defense (0.8 blocks) off the bench. The Thunder, who have battled a slew of injuries this season, have very little room for error if they are going to make the playoffs.

They could miss the depth he provides during Sunday's important game, as Amick noted:

While Perkins is out, Steven Adams will handle all the minutes he can against DeAndre Jordan, while Serge Ibaka could play a little center and Nick Collison may see some extra run off the bench.
