Bray Wyatt Would Be a Dangerous Opponent for Undertaker

Bray Wyatt is one of the most intimidating men in the WWE today.

Ever the heel, he plays mind games with his opponents before destroying them. His entrance music, the dim lights and Wyatt carrying a lantern set the mood perfectly. The menacing Wyatt is not your typical WWE Superstar.

Wyatt almost reminds me of another legendary wrestler: Undertaker.

For over 20 years, Undertaker similarly dominated the WWE. Whereas Wyatt looks like a scary individual from the Bayou, Undertaker evolved into his demonic alter ego. Both men use their darkness to play games with promos that extend well beyond the typical “championship dreams.”

Undertaker’s entrance music also sets an ominous tone, psychologically defeating his enemies before the match begins.

Both Undertaker and Wyatt achieved success through these methods, with Wyatt barely scratching the surface.

Wouldn’t it be amazing, then, for these two to meet for one night only? It would almost feel like looking into a mirror for these two men. In fact, the WWE reportedly agrees.

According to The Wrestling Observer newsletter (h/t Wrestle Zone), the current WrestleMania plans are for Undertaker and Wyatt to meet at WrestleMania 31. The event is set to take place in seven weeks in Santa Clara, California, at Levi’s Stadium. The WWE has seven weeks to build this program up.

It started already with Wyatt giving a cryptic promo on this past edition of Raw. He said the following without truly identifying whom he was referring to: “Oh how they used to fear you. And look what you gone and did. You let all that fear turn into love and admiration. I AM THE NEW FACE OF FEAR!”

Signs point to Undertaker, but not so fast.

The Undertaker, as alluded to earlier, is no spring chicken. He has been doing this for almost three decades. The battles have taken their toll on the Deadman.

His last match was against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 30, which featured Lesnar defeating Undertaker. It was the first time Undertaker was pinned at WrestleMania, shocking the wrestling world. Moreover, Undertaker got up slowly. He looked out of place, not fully aware of his surroundings.

As he walked back, it wasn’t clear if he would ever return.

If Lesnar manhandled Undertaker like he did, then it doesn’t make sense for Wyatt to face him with so much on the line. This isn’t about streaks or characters. It’s about the men behind the personas.

Wyatt would be a dangerous opponent for Undertaker.

Wyatt is very physical in the ring. He partnered up with Daniel Bryan at the 2014 Royal Rumble event in a very physical, show-stealing fight. Wyatt’s wars with Dean Ambrose have been nothing short of brutal. His most recent victory over Dolph Ziggler on Raw reminded the fans he’s a near-unstoppable force.

Wyatt is a tough worker who uses every part of his body to generate devastating hits. If you’re fans of Undertaker, you should be very afraid.

Undertaker’s last bouts have been devastating experiences for him. He barely walked away on his own power in his victories over Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 25 and 26. The medical staff carted Undertaker from the ring at WrestleMania 27. The year after featured him walking with Triple H and Michaels after Hell in a Cell.

Even his WrestleMania matchup with CM Punk showed a world-weary Phenom—so uncharacteristic for him.

Undertaker is always projected a winner at WrestleMania. Now, he can barely move.

If Wyatt and Undertaker face off, don’t expect a classic encounter. Be prepared to see one man crippling another and sending a legend off in shame.

Wyatt would be a dangerous opponent for Undertaker. If they square off at WrestleMania 31, Undertaker’s career will end disastrously—definitely not the way the way we’d like to see the end of the legendary Undertaker’s era.
