Tom Urtz Jr.Feb 6, 2015

The weekend is finally here, and what better way to celebrate than trying to score some cash by playing daily fantasy hockey with DraftKings? There are five games on the docket, and top teams such as the Anaheim Ducks, Chicago Blackhawks, Pittsburgh Penguins and St. Louis Blues are all active.

There are a couple of different ways you could try to draft for Friday’s action, and here’s a look at how you could fill out your roster.

Centers: Nicklas Backstrom ($7,500) and Mathieu Perreault ($4,200)

Nicklas Backstrom has been red-hot lately for the Washington Capitals, and he has 13 points in his last 10 games. He has a total of 54 points on the season and is averaging 3.8 fantasy points per game over his latest hot streak of 10 games.

It is hard to go wrong with Mathieu Perreault as a value second center, even more so when you consider six of his 17 goals this season have come over the last nine games. He's averaged 3.7 fantasy points during that stretch, which is a point higher than his season average.

Wingers: Michael Cammalleri ($5,000), David Perron ($4,800) and Patrick Maroon ($4,400)

Michael Cammalleri is playing with purpose on a struggling New Jersey Devils squad that will once again miss the playoffs. Cammalleri signed as a free agent this summer, and he has five goals and eight points in his last 10 games. He should be able to produce against a Toronto Maple Leafs team in free-fall mode, and $5,000 isn't that much to spend on him.

At $4,800, David Perron is an amazing value, and it would be foolhardy to ignore him. The skilled sniper has seven goals in 13 games with the Penguins and a total of nine points in his last 10 games. He's averaging 4.3 fantasy points per game over the last 10 games, and that puts him in fine company among wingers.

Patrick Maroon has been on fire for the Anaheim Ducks with four goals and nine points in his last 10 games. He is the type of bargain who can pay huge dividends, and $4,400 is an absolute steal for a player who is averaging at least 3.7 fantasy points per game over his last 10 games.

Defensemen: Kris Letang ($8,300) and Hampus Lindholm ($3,500)

Kris Letang has consistently been among the NHL's point leaders for defensemen, and he's having an amazing '14-'15 campaign. The Penguins rover has 14 points in his last nine games, and he's assisted on 13 of Pittsburgh's last 18 goals.

He is averaging an absurd 4.7 fantasy points per game over the last 10 games and is worth every bit of his $8,300 price tag.

Hampus Lindholm of the Anaheim Ducks is an underrated defender who is going to be a star in a few years. The 22-year-old blueliner has six points in his last 10 games, including three helpers on the power play. He is averaging 2.3 fantasy points per game over the last 10 games, and he is a nice value pickup who will be balanced out in your lineup by Letang's production.

Goalie: Michael Hutchinson ($7,700)

WINNIPEG, CANADA - JANUARY 31: Goaltender Michael Hutchinson #34 of the Winnipeg Jets guards the net during third period action against the Dallas Stars on January 31, 2015 at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The Stars defeated the Jets 5-2.

Michael Hutchinson is a great player to have in goal on Friday night because he has absolutely owned the Blackhawks this season.

He's 3-0-0 with a 1.00 goals-against average and a .971 save percentage against Chicago, and it is baffling that he carries such a slim price tag. Hutchinson is averaging 4.9 fantasy points per game this season, but against the Blackhawks, he's averaged 9.5 points.

Utility: Kyle Palmieri ($4,300)

For the utility spot, it makes a lot of sense to pick up a player who isn't as well known as others, because this is a spot where you can pick up meaningful points to put you over the top. Kyle Palmieri has appeared in 27 games and has 10 goals this season. Over the last 10 games, he has found the twine four times and has added three helpers for seven points.
