Simon Peach of the Press Association reveals just how long it's been since the 30-year-old last represented Tottenham, having spent the 2013-14 campaign on loan with Queens Park Rangers:

Assou-Ekotto joined Spurs from Lens in 2006, making 205 appearances for the club, per Transfermarkt, over the course of an eight-and-a-half-year tenure.
