Davis, who revealed in late January he wouldn't be signing with the Buckeyes on national signing day, is the No. 33 corner and No. 50-ranked recruit out of Florida in the 2015 class, per 247Sports' composite rankings

Possessing a rare blend of size (6'2", 184 lbs) and athletic ability, the Norland (Miami, Florida) star has the physical tools to match up with big, fast receivers on the outside. He's also a tough, downhill player—ESPN lists him as a safety—who can make tackles in the running game.

This isn't the biggest loss for the Buckeyes—Urban Meyer's 2015 class already features 4-star cornerbacks Jamel Dean, Eric Glover-Williams and Denzel Ward, as well as 3-star corner Joshua Norwood.

But that doesn't mean it's not a tremendous pickup for Gus Malzahn and his staff.

Even if Davis doesn't make a major impact as a true freshman—at the very least, he's a good candidate for special teams—he has all the traits to become a lockdown corner in the future.
