WWE Raw for Jan. 26 Postponed Due to Snow: Latest Details, Comments, Reaction

Roman Reigns' Royal Rumble celebration is going to have to wait; the Jan. 26 edition of WWE Raw is postponed due to inclement weather.   

Hartford, Connecticut, was supposed to host the pay-pay-view fallout show, but nature had other ideas. Snow hit the region hard, causing WWE to pull out of its premier program. WWE will not tape SmackDown from Boston on Tuesday and will air a live SmackDown edition from Hartford on Thursday instead.

WWE confirmed the news in an official press release. Austin Hunt of BuzzFeed posted WWE's announcement:

WWE was expecting a torrent of fan backlash after fans rebelled against the decision to go with Reigns over Daniel Bryan at the Rumble. Instead, an actual storm is coming.

"Blizzard warnings and winter storm warnings blanket the Northeast on Sunday night in anticipation of the storm," wrote Angela Fritz of The Washington Post. "Over 29 million people are under a blizzard warning through at least Tuesday afternoon."

Even with as much as Vince McMahon lives by a "the show must go on" mindset, he's not going to be able to have Raw on Monday.

As frustrating as this has to be for the company, it had no choice. It's simply too dangerous. Per Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com, Connecticut Governor Dan Malloy said it perfectly at a news conference on Monday: "As important to the world economy as wrestling is, public safety tops it."

Zack Ryder summed up what a lot of fans feel about the situation:

This is bad timing for the company, as it needed to provide some goodwill after another angry response at the booking for the Rumble.

The extra time, though, will give WWE time to rethink its approach. It has time to consider whether to slide Bryan into the WrestleMania main event or at least how to sell fans on Reigns.
