Kenny Britt: Latest News, Rumors and Speculation Surrounding Free-Agent WR
Kenny Britt quietly had a career renaissance last season in St. Louis. Rams Reportedly Re-Sign Britt
Friday, March 13
Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that Britt will stay with St. Louis on a two-year deal worth almost $14 million, including $4.3 million guaranteed.
Britt, 26, spent his first five seasons with the Titans before signing a one-year deal in St. Louis. Buried on head coach Jeff Fisher's depth chart at the beginning of the season, Britt worked his way to an integral role via a combination of injuries and solid play. He set a career high with 48 receptions for 748 yards and three touchdowns, all team highs (or tied) among wide receivers.
The Rams floundered their way to a 6-10 record, but Britt enters free agency in a much better place than he was a year ago. When he left Tennessee, amid off-field problems and issues with his coaching staff, Britt appeared to be on his last NFL legs. The promise he showed early in his career stagnated, as he was held to 11 receptions in 12 games during his final season with the Titans.
Knowing the work he put in to carve a niche on the St. Louis roster, Britt has seemed more than receptive for a return, per Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch:
"I definitely want to come back here. This is a young team. It’s a great young team. They’ve just scratched the surface on what their abilities could be. They’re growing each day, and they’re growing each year. I’ve only been here one year, so to see how they’ve grown from OTAs to now is just amazing. So I want to see ’em grow even more. I hope I can be a part of that.
"

The Rams don't have much in the way of elite receivers. Brian Quick led the team in most receiving categories before suffering a shoulder injury, but this is a roster sorely in need of a top target. 2013 first-round pick Tavon Austin has not developed as anyone hoped, and Stedman Bailey tops out as a third or fourth receiver.
