Breaking News: Boston Celtics Sign Power Forward Shelden Williams

Krishna DhaniAug 7, 2009

According to Boston.com, the Boston Celtics have signed power forward Shelden Williams to a one-year deal. The source reports that he is scheduled to make about $1 million.

Williams is known for being a star player at Duke, then a top-five pick in the 2006 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks. Williams has been struggling, though, but with the Celtics he may be much improved, bringing a 6'9" 250-pound frame to the team.

He also has a lot of time to improve at only 25 years old.

Williams is also married to WNBA superstar Candace Parker.

Although Williams has signed with the Celtics, it does not affect the chances of them signing Glen "Big Baby" Davis. With Williams, he can be a good contributor off the bench during the upcoming 2009-10 season.

Let's see what Shelden Williams has to prove with the 2007-08 NBA Champions.
