NFL Draft Order 2015: Final Results for Every Team Drafting in 1st Round
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will trot to the podium first during the 2015 NFL draft.
It took a 2-14 effort and an epic collapse to close the season, but the front office in Tampa Bay gets to pick from the best of the best in an effort to jump-start one of the league's most serious rebuilds.
With Week 17 in the books, a clear view of where all but 12 teams stand in the draft order is now set in stone. Some teams lucked out; others lost in big ways.
Regardless, the majority of teams are now looking toward the draft, so fans will want to glance in that direction too.

Biggest Winners: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa Bay takes the crown, folks.
Lovie's Smith's debut year with the franchise was a complete dud, an end result that flew in the face of conventional wisdom that suggested his defensive acumen would pair wonderfully with elite players such as Lavonte David and Gerald McCoy.
Instead, the Buccaneers put together a trio of losing streaks of at least three games apiece and lost their final six contests. The last was a real feat too, as Smith's team let a 20-7 halftime lead slip away in an eventual 23-20 loss to the New Orleans Saints.
So long as the Buccaneers do not pull a Houston Texans and ignore the quarterback position, though, it will all be worth it.
Tampa Bay gets to choose between Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston and Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota, this year's Heisman Trophy winner. Bleacher Report's Matt Miller put it best:
Tampa Bay can do no wrong either way. Thank rookie wideout Mike Evans for that, as his 1,051 yards and 12 scores suggest things will only be more explosive once it is not Mike Glennon or Josh McCown lofting him the ball.
The Buccaneers faithful should be happy, although the hard part is not over yet—that is nailing the top overall pick.
Biggest Losers: Carolina Panthers

This will be a tad polarizing.
A graphic provided by NFL on ESPN can be construed one of two ways:
"A team that was 3-8-1 on December 1st is HOSTING a playoff game #Panthers pic.twitter.com/O6zeRoBbTT
— NFL on ESPN (@ESPNNFL) December 29, 2014"
One train of thought congratulates Cam Newton and the Panthers for an epic run. The other condemns them, as the team they beat in the NFC South title game this past weekend, Atlanta, picks No. 8 overall.
Carolina currently sits at 21st, and it can get worse.
The official rules state the potential swing clearly enough: "Clubs not participating in the playoffs shall select in the first through 20th positions in reverse standings order. ... The losers of the Wild Card games shall select 21st through 24th based on won-lost-tied percentage."

Carolina is not some awe-inspiring contender that finally rounded into form at the right time. Instead, it got to play 7-9 New Orleans, 2-14 Tampa Bay, 7-9 Cleveland and 6-10 Atlanta to close the season.
Now, the Panthers are out of range for a top wideout prospect as well as top-tier secondary players, such as Alabama safety Landon Collins.
Hey, it is all worth it if the Panthers go on to win the Super Bowl. If not, most will wonder what could have been in more ways than one.
Biggest Bores: New York Jets

What? You thought the New York Jets were going to escape this?
With two wins over the course of their final three games, the Jets are on the outside looking in when it comes to top quarterbacks in the 2015 draft. ESPNNewYork.com's Jane McManus hits the nail on the head:
New York hit the road to close the season and played itself into the No. 6 slot thanks to a 37-24 win over the Miami Dolphins. To add insult to injury, Geno Smith threw for 358 yards and a trio of scores.
Perhaps that is what the organization wants, though. Why stay in play for a shot at Mariota (3,783 yards and 38 touchdowns) or Winston (3,559 yards and 24 touchdowns) when the team can roll with another season of this?
Who knows? Maybe a third quarterback will come along and catch the eye of the Jets at their current slot. There are plenty of other needs on the roster too, but this feels like a classic case of shooting oneself in the foot.
