Lukaku On Course to Face Burnley
Thursday, April 16
Roberto Martinez reiterated his belief in Thursday's press conference that Lukaku will be fit to face Burnley on Saturday:
The 21-year-old's initial injury was announced when he had to miss Belgium's latest fixtures, as confirmed at the time by the national team's official Twitter account:
Lukaku has scored 18 goals since making his £28 million summer switch to Merseyside, per WhoScored.com.
The former Chelsea man has been in a rich vein of form since the turn of the year, firing Everton to the last 16 of the Europa League with some rumbustious displays at the point of the attack.
Sadly for those of a blue persuasion, while Lukaku has been in fine goalscoring form, the rest of the team has toiled in a disappointing campaign for the Toffees.
The Belgian has received some criticism despite his goalscoring exploits, but Daniel Storey of Football 365 recently put the player's feats into context:
It’s easy to forget Lukaku is only 21 years old given he’s been on the scene for such a long time. After a difficult start to the campaign, he's found his feet superbly in recent weeks, and Evertonians will have their fingers crossed that their star striker will be fighting fit again after the international break.
