Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Once one of the most dominant—and durable—receivers in the NFL, Wayne is starting to slow down after 14 seasons in the league.
He played in just seven games in 2013 due to a torn ACL, and head coach Chuck Pagano told reporters that Wayne battled a multitude of problems in 2014, including triceps, knee and elbow injuries.
The 36-year-old is still capable of making plays, but it was evident in 2014 that he's just not the same while playing through injuries. He had 64 receptions for 779 yards and two touchdowns last year. Pro-Football-Reference.com indicates those represent his lowest totals in a season with at least 15 games played since 2002.
Fortunately for the Colts, quarterback Andrew Luck has an assortment of weapons.
T.Y. Hilton has become his go-to receiver, while burgeoning youngster Donte Moncrief looks set to thrive with a bigger role. Tight ends Coby Fleener and Dwayne Allen got more involved in the passing game with 16 combined touchdown catches last season.
It's unfortunate to see Wayne continue to struggle with injuries, but the Colts' passing game figures to be fine if he decides to call it a career or comes back with lowered expectations in 2015.
