Barnes Suffers Strained Hamstring
Sunday, March 1
According to Markazi, Barnes strained his hamstring in Sunday's game against the Chicago Bulls. Rivers revealed after the game that Barnes "is out tomorrow unless something drastically changed between now and tomorrow," via Markazi.
The Clippers have used Barnes in various roles during his three years with the team. After starting 40 games last year, he has started over 50 games already in 2014-15 and has provided a spark with his ability to score and rebound.
He spoke to Markazi in November about his role on the team:
"To me it really doesn't matter if I start. I just want to work myself back in, whether I'm starting or coming off the bench. I've had a tough start early on, a lot of s--- off the court going on, but I'm starting to figure it out and play better, so whether that's coming off the bench or starting, it doesn't really matter to me.
"
Even though Barnes is averaging less than 10 points per game, his ability to shoot the ball from beyond the arc is what makes him so vital to Los Angeles.
