NFL Schedule Week 13: TV Coverage Map, Start Times and Live Stream Info

Sean ODonnellNov 30, 2014

We're only three games into Week 13, and the playoff picture has already been altered.

The Chicago Bears dropped to 5-7 after losing to the Detroit Lions and appear to be dead in the water this season. At 8-4, however, the Lions are in great position for the postseason. The Philadelphia Eagles upset the Dallas Cowboys and now control their own fate in the NFC East. The Seattle Seahawks look to be the most dominant NFC West team once again, defeating a San Francisco 49ers team that may have difficulty finding a spot in the playoffs.

Thanksgiving Day was pretty eventful.

Game of the Week

New England Patriots at Green Bay Packers

This clash of NFL juggernauts could easily be a Super Bowl preview. Heading into Week 13, the Patriots and Packers appeared to be the most dominant teams in their respective conferences, and now they're on a collision course set for Sunday at Lambeau Field.

So, what are the playoff implications for this matchup?

New England holds an AFC-best 9-2 record. Should the Patriots win, they'll remain in position to claim home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. If they lose, the Denver Broncos and Cincinnati Bengals would gain significant ground in the race for first-round byes with wins.

Green Bay has a half-game lead over Detroit following the Lions' Thanksgiving Day victory. A victory keeps this team atop the NFC North and in the mix for a first-round bye. A loss would propel the Lions to the top of the division due to their Week 3 victory over the Packers.

Which team has the upper hand?

An argument can be made for both sides here. New England has been torching some of the NFL's best teams lately. Over their last three games, the Patriots have faced three division-leading teams, winning by a margin of at least 22 points in each contest. Two of those games were played in Foxborough, but the Patriots did manage a road victory in Indianapolis as well.

ESPN's John Buccigross tweeted an interesting trend regarding the Patriots this week:

While the Packers are only riding a three-game winning streak, this team has looked virtually unbeatable at home this season. Aaron Rodgers and Co. are 5-0 at Lambeau Field, winning by a margin of at least 21 points in four of those five games. Rodgers has yet to throw an interception at home this season, setting a new NFL record in the process, according to the NFL Network's Jeff Darlington:

How will this game shake out?

Both teams have been extremely impressive of late, but there's one aspect that's been getting overlooked: Each defense has been playing well over the past few weeks. In fact, during each team's last three games, the Packers have given up a total of 55 points, and the Patriots have allowed 50 points.

The winning team will have to buck its opponent's defensive trend. The quarterback most likely to get that done is Rodgers. While Tom Brady has been phenomenal this year, his hiccups on the road in Indianapolis are a bit concerning. Meanwhile, Rodgers continues to post unblemished numbers in Green Bay.

Expect this game to remain close and go down to the wire. This time, however, it won't be Brady with the dramatic late game-winning drive.

Prediction: Packers 31, Patriots 30
