WWE NXT Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights from November 27, 2014
The Superstars and Divas of NXT celebrated Thanksgiving with the WWE Universe, exclusively on WWE Network!
In the night's main event, two extraordinary in-ring talents battled in singles competition, as Finn Balor looked to knock off one of 2014's most valuable performers, Tyson Kidd. The loud-mouthed Kidd downplayed Balor's international star status on last week's show. Would he be able to back his words up by beating the NXT newcomer Thursday night?
Carmella returned to the squared circle to battle Leva Bates, better known to the NXT fans as "blue pants," in a rematch of her first match. Would she run her win-loss record to 3-0, or would the crafty veteran of the indies sour Carmella's holiday?
Tyler Breeze squared off with Marcus Louis, and NXT tag team champions Kalisto and Sin Cara were in action to fill out the rest of the card.
What went down as fans and family gathered 'round the television screen for Thursday night's broadcast?
Find out now.
Tyler Breeze vs. Marcus Louis
1 of 5
The humiliation suffered following the loss of his hair has left Marcus Louis a fragile and broken man. Thursday night, he had the opportunity to heal his psyche with a win over a man who is the exact opposite of him at this point: "Prince Pretty" Tyler Breeze.
Breeze talked trash to Louis, calling him ugly in many more words before catching him with the Beauty Shot heel kick for the quick pinfall.
After the match, Louis flipped out, kicking the ring steps and screaming maniacally.
Result
Tyler Breeze pinned Marcus Louis.
Highlights and Quotes
"I'm so lucky because it's like I'm stuck between two big Macy's parade floats." - Renee Young on Jason Albert and Rich Brennan
"I feel like the towel is just drawing more attention." - Young on Marcus Louis
"Am I actually expected to take on the uggo of all uggos?" - Tyler Breeze
"I'm not going to play some Lord of the Rings ripoff where you play Gollum and I'm your precious." - Breeze
"This is awkward!" - NXT Universe as Louis lost it

Analysis
The crowd's chants summed up the entire angle, as everything Louis did came off as incredibly forced and awkward. It was obvious that the young star has not come into his own as a performer and is still trying to find his feet in his new role.
The psychotic breakout came across as way too over-the-top and really hurt the overall effectiveness of the angle.
That it was played for laughs did not help matters.
Carmella vs. Leva Bates
2 of 5
The smoking hot Carmella returned to the NXT Arena at Full Sail University Thursday night, squaring off with Leva Bates, who is known to avid fans of the developmental brand as "blue pants." For someone who has amassed the resume across the independent scene as Bates has, to lose in such definitive fashion as she was the last time the two competitors squared off must have been humbling.
Thursday night, she had the opportunity to avenge that loss.
Seconds into the match, Carmella shoulder-blocked Blue Pants to the mat and applied her head-scissors submission for the tapout victory.
Result
Carmella defeated Blue Pants via submission.
Highlights and Quotes
"This here is Carmella, and she's hot as hell, and you can't teach that!" - Enzo Amore
"She has great eyebrows." "Yeah." - Renee Young, then Jason Albert

Analysis
Any time someone as fun and talented as Leva Bates is so blatantly disregarded as she has been in her two NXT appearances, it is disheartening. That she was sacrificed to help get Carmella over, at a time when fans are not particularly fond of the character, does not help matters.
And therein lies a major issue: Fans do not like Carmella, and pairing her with Enzo Amore and Big Cass has done nothing to change their perception of the so-called "Princess of Staten Island."
Non-Title Match: Kalisto and Sin Cara vs. Jason Jordan and Tye Dillinger
3 of 5
Kalisto and Sin Cara looked to make a statement following last week's mockery at the hands of the Vaudevillains as they squared off with Jason Jordan and Tye Dillinger.
Dillinger and Jordan isolated Sin Cara, working him over in their corner as Kalisto tried to will his partner back into the bout.
Sin Cara blocked an Irish Whip attempt and sent Dillinger face-first into the boot of Jordan. Kalisto made the hot tag and exploded into the squared circle, using his athleticism and high-flying ability to thwart the offense of his opponents.
The Salida del Sol finished the match on a winning note for the champions.
Result
The Lucha Dragons defeated Jason Jordan and Tye Dillinger.
Highlights and Quotes
"I hope the Lucha Dragons continue to evolve and bring something else. They need to be edgier." - Jason Albert

Analysis
Sin Cara and Kalisto beat a generic tag team. Raise your hand if that sounds familiar.
The team that finally knocked off The Ascension and took the NXT Tag Team Championships at NXT Takeover: Fatal 4-Way simply could not be any less interesting if it tried.
The duo is incredibly entertaining to watch from bell-to-bell thanks to their high-flying abilities, but their characters are nonexistent, and the fans' apathy toward them and their pandering "lucha" chants only make the team's deficiencies that much more evident.
Bayley Promo
4 of 5On the heels of her recent disappointments, Bayley made her way to the squared circle, much to the delight of the NXT Universe.
Despite the instructions from Charlotte to stay home because she wouldn't be there to help her, Bayley vowed to stand up to the bullies, Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch.
The heels hit the ring and double-teamed Bayley, working over her left knee until referees came to the aid of the popular Diva.
Highlights and Quotes
"I just want to sit down and tell her that enough is enough. Hugging people is not going to get you to the top." - Jason Albert
"Bullies are cowards!" - Bayley
Grade

Analysis
This felt way, way too much like everything else we have seen between Bayley and the new and improved BFFs over the last few months. She stood up to someone she perceived to be a bully, but rather than overcoming that person (or those people), she was beaten down and showed her place in the grand scheme of things.
It is repetitive storytelling that does nothing for the character.
With that said, a strong stand or even a championship victory would supply Bayley with the momentum and credibility needed to make the story work. Otherwise, the direction of the character is problematic, at best.
Finn Balor vs. Tyson Kidd
5 of 5Determined to back up all of the hype surrounding his arrival, Finn Balor squared off with NXT's biggest villain Tyson Kidd.
Kidd used Natalya as a shield early in the bout and continued to control the bout after a brief break. A neckbreaker on the arena floor visibly affected the neck and head of the Irishman.
The inability of Kidd to keep his personal life out of the ring really hampered his attempts to focus on Balor.
Balor mounted a comeback, delivered the Pele kick and fired off a vicious brainbuster that nearly scored him the victory.
Kidd dodged a diving double foot stomp and tried for a Sharpshooter, but Balor fought out of it.
Before Balor could deliver his finish, The Ascension hit the ring and assaulted him. Hideo Itami followed, and a brawl between the two teams broke out.
Referees broke up the action to close out the program.
Result
Finn Balor defeated Tyson Kidd.
Highlights and Grades
"I'm not one to get behind Kidd or anything, but he has also trained all over the world." - Renee Young
"Tokyo Joe only trains Triple Crown champions, and he chose Tyson Kidd." - Young
"He knows that Tyson is all about the kicks, so he's throwing them right back." - Young
"I've been in the ring with both of these competitors, and they're both great." - Jason Albert

Analysis
Balor and Kidd ended a fairly poor episode of NXT on a positive note with an incredibly entertaining, hard-fought and physical match that had the fans inside Full Sail University chanting "this is awesome" as it neared its crescendo.
The interference from Konnor and Viktor made perfect sense as The Ascension would logically want to avenge the beating they took two weeks ago at the hands of the international sensation Balor and partner Itami.
More importantly, the brawl to end the show really helped to elevate the rivalry in terms of importance. Now, it shares top billing with Sami Zayn's road to redemption in terms of heat and anticipation come NXT Takeover: R Evolution.
